The Cuban dance universe is the result of a great process of multiethnic contributions, whose main components were the migrations from the different regions of the Iberian Peninsula and the Canary Islands, as well as those coming from western sub-Saharan Africa, joined by the different migrations originating in some regions of China and the Caribbean area (Jamaica and Haiti, mainly). It is appreciable in the traditional dance expressions, elements of the Hispanic tradition and others corresponding to the diverse African ethnic groups that began to arrive in Cuba since the XVI century. The authors of this research have always been interested in dances of traditional and identity character, because there is a much wider universe that requires a lot of research, which has allowed them to carry out this study of deepening the historical, methodological and technical knowledge about the Trinitarian makuta, which allows to watch over the preservation of this folkloric dance.
