The Eclectus parrot (Eclectus roratus) is a striking and intelligent bird species native to the tropical rainforests of northeastern Australia, the Solomon Islands, New Guinea, and surrounding islands. They are particularly known for their dramatic sexual dimorphism-the male and female appear so different that early European naturalists mistakenly classified them as separate species.
