Struggle and stress are part of the package of success. Just because you have goals does not mean that some people will not stand in your way and seek to bring you down. Their behavior is a reflection of their deep dissatisfaction with themselves. That is why they have the need to hurt others. I have been hurt many times during the course of my life. I am a war survivor. My family barely escaped the Bosnian Genocide in one piece. I survived intense bullying, a sexual assault attempt, toxic family members, discrimination, burnout, and school politics. I have been angry, sad, confused, scared, and disgusted by the behavior that I have witnessed. If You Want To Succeed is a book of poetry that highlights the need for progress and change during a time of uncertainty (Russo-Ukrainian War, COVID-19, the opioid crisis, and school shootings).
