The biogenic synthesis of silver nanoparticles using plant extracts is a promising area of research in the field of nanotechnology. Plant extracts, such as aqueous and methanolic extracts, have been found to be effective in synthesizing silver nanoparticles in a green and sustainable manner. The synthesis process is simple, cost-effective and does not involve the use of toxic chemicals.
The synthesized silver nanoparticles have been characterized for their biological and photocatalytic efficacy. The nanoparticles have potential applications in biomedical and environmental fields, such as antimicrobial activity, antioxidant activity, bioremediation and biopharmaceuticals. The biogenic synthesis of silver nanoparticles from plant extracts offers a way to reduce the environmental impact of traditional chemical synthesis methods.
Medicinal plants and herbal extracts have been used as reducing agents in the synthesis process. Phytochemicals present in the plant extracts play an important role in the reduction of metal ions, resulting in the formation of nanoparticles. Surface functionalization of the nanoparticles can be achieved by using plant extracts, which provides biocompatibility and stability.
Characterization techniques such as transmission electron microscopy, scanning electron microscopy, X-ray diffraction, Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy, ultraviolet-visible spectroscopy, zeta potential, particle size and aggregation have been employed to study the properties of the synthesized nanoparticles. Cytotoxicity studies have also been conducted to assess the safety of the nanoparticles for use in biomedical applications.
The biogenic synthesis of silver nanoparticles from plant extracts offers a green and sustainable alternative to traditional chemical synthesis methods. Plant-based therapy and plant-derived nanoparticles are emerging as potential therapeutic agents in the field of medicine. The use of herbal medicine and green technology in nanoparticle synthesis is an area of research that is gaining interest due to its potential for sustainable development.
