Dental extraction is a simple procedures but when exposed to mucormycosis will cause severe complications. Palatal ulcer is also an oral manifestation of this infections which are difficult to diagnose and to treat. Mucormycosis is an acute, rapidly progressive, opportunistic invasive fungal infection with a high mortality rate and spread quickly. Early diagnosis is important and must be treated promptly, quickly and accurately. The purpose is to review the treatments of mucormycosis in the oral cavity with hyperbaric oxygen (HBO) therapy, case report, in vitro and in vivo preliminary studies. HBO therapy has given good results on various case reports as an adjunct therapy, very useful in this case report and has an effect on in-vitro and in-vivo preliminary studies. In the future maybe HBO therapy could be given earlier if there is a clinical sign of mucormycosis and a little response to antibiotics. Need to be considered the use of HBO therapy as a prophylaxis to anticipate the presence of mucormycosis especially in immunocompromised patients as well as healthy patients. Dentists and oral surgeons should be alert to the oral manifestation of mucormycosis and how to treat it.
