This work is the result of a doctoral thesis defended at the Graduate Program of the School of Nursing at the State University of Campinas. The author sought to identify and analyze how nurses working in family health teams represent mental health care. The study was developed based on an understanding of the relevance of primary care services in relation to mental health care, linked to a work process based on the logic of the territory, which makes it possible to identify the real health singularities of the population. Identifying the potentialities and weaknesses inherent in the provision of mental health care is an important task for (re)thinking how it has been represented and constructed in primary health care services.
