Considering the demand for effective treatments for the prevention and treatment of Parkinson's disease (PD) and the role of oxidative stress in neurological and neurodegenerative disorders, the aim of this study was to evaluate the antioxidant activity, as well as the possible neuroprotective action of flavonoids in an experimental model for the study of PD. Thus, treatment with flavonoids may promote an increase in the survival of dopaminergic neurons and reduce the inflammatory response in the striatum, effects that may be associated with their antioxidant activity. Therefore, this study aims to help in the search for etiologies of neurodegenerative diseases and to guide researchers in the pharmacological field and the pharmaceutical industry in the development of therapeutic possibilities for neurodegeneration.
