The book recounts a father's attempt to support his son in the creation and operation of a claims processing system for the property insurance industry. Although the software was a major success and was subsequently acquired by a major international company, the father's personal role and success led to extreme unmerited conflict with the son and related investors. This became a major career and financial disruption for the father, who despite related legal proceedings struggled to survive for multiple years while the company's subsequent business operations (based almost exclusively on use of the software), generated millions in revenue, making the related founders wealthy for the past 20+ years, while the father/author lost his prior career options and struggled to survive personally and financially for multiple years, up to tentative retirement.
