This heartwarming tale for middle grade children will make you laugh and cry. Sammy McGann was eleven and she'd had enough. She was fed up, bored and lonely. So she ran away from home. But when Toby suddenly disappears from her secret place, Sammy's world spirals into a storm of confusion and trouble-and it's not just because of the violent weather, but from her secret life being uncovered. Faced with the consequences, Sammy's journey becomes one of understanding what's truly important.
Not only does Sammy face near death, caught in the fury of a ravaging storm, she is about to face the most frightening fury of all, when her mum finds out what she's been up to. This is a lovely tale about what's really important in life. It will make you laugh and cry, and it teaches children the values of life and how to appreciate the simple things that they have, and not to take them, or those around them for granted. 'I really enjoyed this book. Sometimes we don't really realise how lucky we are. Sammy learned how lucky she was and a few life lessons along the way. Read this to my 6 year old daughter, she really enjoyed it and it made her really think about what means most in life. She didn't want the book to end!
