For years, I struggled with only identifying with my imperfections. Depending on my mood, I would either try to fix what was wrong, or think I will never be good enough. Seldom would I pay attention to the positive things within me, because I had low self-worth. When I was in my early twenties my Aunt Pam often said to me, You are beautiful and smart. I didn't fully grasp why she'd say that until one day when I was forty, I looked in the mirror and immediately reflected on my past. I thought, I wish I had seen my internal and external beauty back then. I went through the process of thinking about what I could've, should've, and would've done, but the bottom line was I didn't do it. It was in that moment when I realized that I couldn't do anything about the past except learn from it. I reflected on my present, got excited about my future, and decided I will live a life of wholeness every day. Wholeness started when I recognized that my flaws don't determine my self-worth and capabilities. They are simply guideposts for areas where I can improve.
