Khi tôi sinh ra (1949) nơi ruộng đồng của quê hương xứ Quảng Nam nghèo khó, tôi đã chẳng nghĩ rằng lớn lên sẽ đi xuất gia học đạo và cũng chưa bao giờ nghĩ là mình sẽ đi xuất dương (cách nói của người dân quê thuở bấy giờ - 1964) và cũng không bao giờ nghĩ là mình ở lại Đức cho đến gần cả 40 năm, rồi đi đó đi đây cả 72 quốc gia trên thế giới. Nà o là viết sách, chép kinh, dạy đạo, ngoại giao, cúng kÃnh, tu tập v.v... cả hằng tá công việc như thế và cả một cuộc đời nà y từ năm 1949 đến nay (2016) cũng đã hơn 67 năm trên trần thế như vậy, cá nhân tôi chưa bao giờ nghĩ rằng Nó phải là như vậy. Và hôm nay nó đã là như vậy thì chỉ biết nói hai chữ nhân duyên hay duyên sanh là dễ hiểu nhất.
Lần nà y là lần thứ 67 tôi đặt bút xuống những trang giấy trắng để viết thà nh lời văn, ở năm 67 tuổi, cũng là một điều kỳ lạ và hy hữu. Bởi lẽ Ãt có sự trùng hợp như vậy. Có nhiều điều mình muốn thực hiện mà không là m được, trong khi đó có những việc chưa hay không muốn, nhưng nó vẫn tới cận kề, khiến cho chúng ta không thể không hạ bút thà nh lời được.
Năm 2015 tôi đã viết về Nhật Bản trong lòng tôi. Năm 2016 đã viết và xuất bản sách Nước Úc trong tâm tôi. Mùa An Cư Kiết Hạ năm 2016 nà y, tôi bắt đầu viết tác phẩm thứ 67 để sang năm 2017 xuất bản với nhan đề là Nước Mỹ bao lần đi và bao lần đến.
Kể từ năm 1978 đến nay (2016) - trong 38 năm dà i như vậy, tôi đã đến Hoa Kỳ 49 lần rồi và mỗi lần như vậy, địa phương đi, đến có thể giống nhau, nhưng con người, sự kiện và hoà n cảnh chung quanh lại khác biệt. Nghĩa là không có lần nà o giống lần nà o cả.
