Trauma:

Initial Assessment (Primary Survey):
- Airway, Breathing, Circulation, Disability, Exposure (ABCDE) approach.
- Identifying life-threatening conditions and prioritizing immediate interventions.
Secondary Survey:
- Comprehensive head-to-toe examination.
- Identifying all injuries and determining the appropriate treatment plan.
Types of Trauma:
- Blunt trauma: Resulting from impacts, falls, or collisions.
- Penetrating trauma: Resulting from stab wounds, gunshots, or impalements.
Management:
- Hemorrhage control: Stopping bleeding through direct pressure, tourniquets, or surgical interventions.
- Fracture stabilization: Using splints, casts, or surgical fixation.
- Managing shock: Administering fluids and medications to maintain blood pressure and organ perfusion.
Life Support:
Life support refers to medical interventions that sustain life in critically ill or injured patients. It encompasses a range of procedures and technologies, including:
Basic Life Support (BLS):
- Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR): Manual chest compressions and rescue breaths.
- Use of Automated External Defibrillators (AEDs).
Advanced Life Support (ALS):
- Endotracheal intubation: Inserting a tube into the trachea to secure the airway.
- Advanced cardiac life support (ACLS) protocols: Managing cardiac arrest, arrhythmias, and other cardiac emergencies.
- Administration of medications: Using drugs like epinephrine, amiodarone, and vasopressors.
Critical Care:
- Mechanical ventilation: Providing respiratory support with machines.
- Hemodynamic monitoring: Measuring blood pressure, cardiac output, and other vital parameters.
