Edgar Allan Poe was created in Boston on January nineteen, 1809, the next son of David Poe Jr. and Elizabeth Arnold Poe, each stage actors. The family lived in abject poverty and moved often during Poe's very first years, during that time his parents pursued acting engagements in York that is new, Maryland, and Virginia. Poe's father abandoned the household when Poe was nonetheless a tiny kid, and the mother of his died in Richmond, Virginia, in December 1811. Shortly after his mother 's death, Poe was used by John Allan, a rich Richmond merchant, and the wife of his, Frances. In 1815 the young boy went with the Allans to Great Britain, residing in London and Scotland for the following 5 years. Right after going back to Richmond in 1820, Poe attended private schools, wherever he excelled in literature, classics, along with oratory; also, he started writing poetry.
