The Secret of Donkey and the Wind-Friends

Short Summar The Secret of Donkey and the Wind-Friends

In a green valley called Bramble Brook, the animals lived a peaceful life. Rabbits hopped through clover, deer drank from clear streams, birds sang each morning, and the wind moved gently through the treetops. Small problems happened sometimes, but they were never serious.

Then the seasons began to change in strange and scary ways. The river rose too fast and flooded the meadows, washing away burrows and nests. Thunderstorms became louder and stronger, breaking branches and leaving the sky dark for days. Farther hills turned dry and brittle, and sometimes smoke made the sunset look orange, like fire on the horizon. The animals felt afraid because danger kept returning again and again. The valley no longer felt safe.

Donkey lived in the middle of Bramble Brook. He was not the fastest like Rabbit, not clever like Fox, and not strong like Bear. But Donkey had quiet strengths. He noticed warning signs before others did. He worked hard even when it was muddy and difficult. He kept going until the job was done.

One morning after heavy rain, Donkey saw the river rushing like an army. Clouds moved too quickly and looked too thick. Animals gathered on higher ground, worried and shaking. Hedgehog said they could not escape floods. Owl warned the trees could not survive more storms. Deer whispered that even fire might come. Everyone wondered about the same thing: what happens if the valley cannot protect us anymore?

That day, the river turned wild and dangerous. Water chewed the banks and swept away paths. In the chaos, Squirrel cried because her babies were trapped. Donkey pushed through the freezing flood and rescued them one by one, carrying them to safety. The animals saw that Donkey was steady when everything else was falling apart.
