It gets quiet in the house that night, and the rain taps on the windows. The compass button starts to glow, from a small spark to a steady light. With a gentle breeze, Teddy sets the map out on the floor. It looks like the paper is breathing. The compass flashes again, and a small red dot lights up like an offer. Teddy pulls his scarf tighter and puts a small notebook, a pencil that is about the length of a finger, and a small keepsake pouch into the backpack that is already there. He then looks back at Mina's nightlight and sees that the lampshade has turned into a little moon. He says he will bring stories to your house. The door closes with a click. Teddy starts his trip to learn about the world with a sound that is both soft and steady, like a dream.
