Les chapitres sur les Capétiens et sur 14-18 m'ont glacé. C'est le premier livre qui ose dire que la IIIe République envoyait ses propres mutins au peloton d'exécution. Et la collaboration sous Vichy est traitée sans faux-fuyants. L'écriture alerte rend le choc supportable, mais on ne sort pas indemne de cette lecture. Pierre L.
Ce livre n'est pas un énième éloge des Lumières ou de Versailles. C'est l'histoire d'une nation bâtie sur le génie et sur l'horreur, racontée avec honnêteté et sans concessions. 2 000 ans de France, des grottes de Lascaux aux guerres coloniales.
