O libro divÃdese en tres partes. Na primeira parte (As intuicións) o autor trata as hipóteses máis relevantes sobre a falsa realidade do mundo perceptible. Os grandes pensadores contemplaron a existencia dun nivel de conciencia que transcende a materia. Atopamos esta idea no Mito da caverna de Platón, na TeorÃa non materialista de Berkeley e tamén en PsicoloxÃa da forma (Gestaltpsychologie). A fonte máis autorizada reside nos traballos sobre o subconsciente colectivo e sobre a TeorÃa da sincronicidade de Carl Jung.
Na segunda parte (Confirmacións) o autor describe dun xeito elemental pero detallado o camiño da fÃsica cuántica, desde o experimento de Thomas Young da barreira con dúas fendas ata os fenómenos da superposición de estados e a correlación cuántica. A través destas claves privilexiadas é posible comprender o enredo cuántico. Na terceira parte (Perspectivas) o autor describe as teorÃas desenvolvidas por David Bohm sobre o potencial cuántico sobre o universo implÃcito e o universo explÃcito e sobre a visión holográfica do cosmos. Todo explÃcase con absoluta sinxeleza, sen o uso de fórmulas matemáticas e coa axuda de moitas ilustracións.
A humanidade, dende as súas orixes, quixo investigar a orixe e a composición das cousas, descubrir o seu funcionamento e o seu propósito Ãntimo.
O método universalmente utilizado consiste en descompoñer obxectos en partes cada vez máis pequenas e logo analizalos con todas as técnicas posibles, desde a investigación visual ata as reaccións quÃmicas. Isto aÃnda ocorre hoxe. Por exemplo, se un cientÃfico quere descubrir a estrutura quÃmica e fÃsica dun cubo de granito, dividilo en anacos cada vez máis pequenos ata dividilo en átomos individuais.
Non obstante, se o propio cientÃfico quere investigar as partÃculas individuais que forman o átomo, recibe unha sorpresa incrible. O cubo de granito compórtase como o farÃa un cubo de xeo. O cientÃfico ve a materia que se converte en néboa, se evapora, desaparece entre os dedos. A materia sólida convértese en enerxÃa que vibra.
As partÃculas individuais transfórmanse en ondas fluctuantes sen ningunha corporeidade sólida.
A nivel subatómico, a materia xa non é materia sólida, convértese en algo diferente.
As partÃculas elementais nos enganan. Parecen manchas sólidas se alguén as observa, pero compórtanse como ondas vibrantes cando non se observan.
Os átomos practicamente só conteñen baleiro.
Na superficie, cremos que podemos tocar, pesar, manipular e medir a materia. Pero, na súa composición máis Ãntima, a materia convértese nunha onda de baleiro, enerxÃa, información, onda ou vibración. O que nos parece un material sólido, na súa esencia máis Ãntima, xa non é un material sólido.
Neste punto, está claro que xa non podemos falar dunha única realidade. Dependendo dos niveis de observación, desde o extremadamente pequeno ata o infinitamente grande, hai moitas realidades, todas diferentes pero todas absolutamente certas.
