Boken er delt i tre deler. I den f rste delen (intuisjonene) behandler forfatteren de mest relevante hypotesene om den illusoriske virkeligheten i den merkbare verdenen. Eksistensen av et bevissthetsnivå som overskrider materie er blitt tenkt av de store tenkerne. Vi finner denne ideen i Platons myte om hulen, i Berkeleys immaterialistiske teori, i Psykologi i formen (Gestaltpsychologie). Den mest autoritative kilden ligger i verkene om det kollektive ubevisste og i teorien om synkronicitet av Carl Jung.
I den andre delen (Bekreftelser) beskriver forfatteren på en element r, men detaljert måte, veien til kvantefysikk, fra Thomas Youngs eksperiment med barrieren med to kutt til fenomenene superposisjon av stater og kvantekorrelasjon. Gjennom disse privilegerte n klene er det mulig å forstå kvanteforvikling. I den tredje delen (Perspectives) beskriver forfatteren teoriene utviklet av David Bohm om kvantepotensialet på det impliserte og ekspliserte universet og om den holografiske visjonen til kosmos. Alt blir forklart med absolutt enkelhet, uten bruk av matematiske formler og ved hjelp av mange illustrasjoner.
Menneskeheten har fra sin opprinnelse nsket å unders ke opprinnelsen og sammensetningen av ting, for å oppdage deres funksjon og deres intime formål.
Den universelt brukte metoden er å bryte ned gjenstander i mindre og mindre deler, og deretter analysere dem med alle mulige teknikker, fra visuell unders kelse til kjemiske reaksjoner. Dette skjer fremdeles i dag. For eksempel, hvis en forsker vil oppdage den kjemiske og fysiske strukturen til en granittterning, vil han bryte den i mindre og mindre biter til den er delt inn i individuelle atomer.

De ser ut som solide flekker hvis noen observerer dem, men de oppf rer seg som vibrerende b lger når de ikke blir observert.
Atomer inneholder praktisk talt bare vakuum.
På overflaten tror vi at vi kan ber re, veie, manipulere og måle materie. Men i sin mest intime sammensetning blir materie en krusning av tomhet, energi, informasjon, b lge eller vibrasjon. Det som virker solidt materiale, i sin mest intime essens, er ikke lenger solidt materiale.
På dette punktet er det klart at vi ikke lenger kan snakke om en eneste virkelighet. Avhengig av observasjonsnivået, fra det ekstremt lille til det uendelig store, er det mange virkeligheter, alle forskjellige, men alle helt sanne.
Eller kanskje er det mange aspekter av en h yere virkelighet, fremdeles ukjent. Alle filosofier og religioner har alltid antatt en åndens sone som overskrider materie; ingen har imidlertid noen gang klart å bevise at de eksisterer. I dag åpner kvantefysikk et stort vindu på horisonter som vi fram til forrige århundre ikke kunne ha forestilt oss.
